Looking for some weekend inspiration? Here are five things happening around Albury Wodonga and surrounds.
Music – Georgie Currie EP launch, Wodonga
An Albury bred singer songwriter who’s been part of popular band the Northern Folk for the past six years launches her debut EP tonight (Friday 28 June).
Georgie Currie has recently embarked on a solo career and is bringing a show to Albury to celebrate the release of her EP at the Hume Bank Butter Factory Theatre Wodonga from 8:00pm (with supports from Tess Guthrie and Lauren Eddy)
Winter Warmer – Darker Days, Bright
Darker Days is a festive celebration of dark beer and mid-winter, bringing together High Country brewers, producers, musicians, entertainers, beer lovers and families to toast the season.
After the sun sets, Bright Brewery’s riverside lands will truly come alive with a spectacular ceremonial burning of a giant wooden structure – bonfire style.
Come gather around the fires to make damper and to roast marshmallows and chestnuts at Bright Brewery Saturday 29 June from noon ‘til late.
Family Fun – Circus Wodonga
The dinosaurs have stomped into the big top with Jurassic Unearthed as part of Silvers Circus.
The Circus is set up at Wodonga Racecourse and is here until 21 July.
Art & Culture – Pyjama Girl Exhibition, MAMA Albury
Artist Elizabeth Rankin presents a vibrant series of oil paintings that explore the intrigue and mystery of the Pyjama Girlmurder case that occurred in Albury in 1934.
The artist first learned of the infamous case as a young girl visiting the Royal Easter Show in Sydney in the 1950’s. In an early ‘true crime’ exhibit presented by the NSW Police, gory details and evidence from the case was presented alongside May the ‘Fat Lady’, cortortionists, farm animals and rows of show bags.
The exhibition runs until Sunday 28 July.
Relax – Vinyl and Vino, Valhalla
The record player is on and you can select from Anton’s vinyl collection or bring your own records as part of an ‘afternoon session’ at Valhalla Rutherglen on Saturday or Sunday.
Unwind throughout the afternoon with great tunes, board games, cheese and charcuterie platters while enjoy some hand crafted wines or local beers across the weekend from 10:00am – 2:00pm.
