Family Fun – Golden Horseshoes Festival, Beechworth

A bumper program of activities will delight visitors at the Golden Horseshoes Festival in Beechworth. The highlight is Easter Saturday’s re-enactment of the 1855 parade through the streets of Beechworth led by political aspirant Daniel Cameron on a horse shod with shoes of gold.

The parade will feature dozens of colourful floats from schools, community groups and businesses. The weekend also includes Beechworth Honey cooking demonstrations, Ned Kelly trial re-enactments and other activities.

Explore – Alpine  Discovery Days – Falls Creek

Nestled within Victoria’s largest national park, the Alpine National Park, Wallace’s Hut on the Bogong High Plains is Victoria’s oldest surviving mountain hut.

Visit the iconic hut during the Alpine Discovery Days this weekend and explore its rich history with Volunteer Park Guides. Step back in time as you listen to fascinating tales from the past and learn about Victoria’s legendary cattlemen.

Volunteer Park Guides will be roving between 10.00am and 2.00pm on Easter Saturday and Easter Sunday.

Relax – Music in the Gardens – Elixir featuring Katie Noonan & Zac Hurren

Multi-platinum selling and five-time ARIA award-winning singer and songwriter Katie Noonan returns with her ARIA Award winning jazz trio Elixir featuring Zac Hurren – for a magical afternoon of music and poetry.

Elixir has enjoyed much success and great commendation along the way including: an ARIA Award (Best Jazz Album 2011), 13 weeks at #1 on the ARIA Jazz Chart, TV & Festival appearances.

The concert will feature the new ‘Gratitude and Grief’ collaboration between Elixir and Michael Leunig, showcasing a unique combination of poetry, angelic vocals and sublime improvisation.

Action – Australian Billy Cart Championships, Corowa

On Easter Saturday every year, the town of Corowa in Southern New South Wales comes alive as the centre of racing action, festival celebrations and family entertainment.

The McDonalds Australian Billy Cart Championships is an all ages event with six different race categories to give every competitor a fighting chance.

Billy carts from across Australia race down Sanger Street and race in their home-made or professionally created designs.

Get track side and enjoy the live music, family fun activities and market stalls.

Markets – Bright Rotary Easter Markets, Bright

Celebrate the Easter long weekend in Bright as you enjoy the open air markets presented by the Bright Rotary Club.

These monster markets offer something for everyone, with food, homemade items, craft, skincare, clothing, and plenty more. Markets are held in the Bright town centre on Easter Saturday from 9:00am until 2:00pm.
