The exchange of ideas a focus of Beechworth Festival of Change.

A week long schedule of events, creativity, conversations and connections to help generate change is underway in Beechworth this week.

The Beechworth Festival of Change is a not-for-profit community driven event focussing on creating positive social and environmental change.

Among the key speakers is an internationally renowned leader in advocating for community change through regional philanthropy, Brian Frederick who served as the CEO of the Community Foundation of Lorain County, Ohio for nearly 20 years.

Brian Frederick, a guest speaker from the US.

Brian will share his first-hand experiences of donors, businesses and communities in rural and regional USA who have supported a community change process via philanthropy models and approaches.

Among those hoping to benefit from the knowledge sharing is Steve Thompson, Senior Manager at local not-for-profit UMFC (Upper Murray Family Care).

“We are extremely grateful for the contributions of local donors,” Steve said.

“What Brian brings is the possibility of innovative, extensive social change right here in the local community on an unprecedented scale.

“I find the prospect of exploring this opportunity, in partnership with local community groups and trusts such as the Into Our Hands Community Foundation (supporting communities in Alpine, Indigo & Wangaratta), highly exciting.”
